General caliper maintenance:
Brake calipers are a safety-critical thing. AP Racing recommends that customers regularly check and service the brake calipers to maintain the best performance of the caliper.
AP Racing recommends that the caliper should be washed with soapy water. Please do not use gasoline, any oily detergent or lubricant to clean, because it will damage the seal.
When replacing the sealing ring, it should be soaked in the brake oil for 30 minutes before installation.
Maintenance of racing/track calipers:
When the car stops, lower the "soaking" temperature (eg, don't just stop the car and continue to step on the brake pedal while the brake disc is still hot) as this will cause the caliper to overheat.
The calipers, which often reach a temperature of 200°C, need to be renewed after each race.
Intermittent calipers operating at temperatures between 200°C and 220°C or higher must be replaced with new ones as soon as possible. AP Racing supplies brake temperature or temperature paint.
Tightening when tightening is recommended:
M6 and 1/4UNF fixing bolts = 18Nm
Brake M4 Abutment Screw (using Loctite 242 glue) = 3Nm
Tubing nuts (using Loctite 648 glue inside the tubing nut, with 7649 catalyst) = 24 Nm
Hydraulic Quick Coupling for CP6300 Caliper = 13Nm (Lotte 270 glue can be used)
Hydraulic quick coupler=4Nm
Deflating screw = 17Nm
Please note: When tightening, excessive torque or insufficient torque may cause brake fluid to leak or affect the performance of the caliper. A complete repair service, including seal repair kits, can be purchased from AP Racing agents.
