Brakes New | UK Alcon RC6/RC4 Calipers

Alcon is a British company specializing in brake systems and clutches. Founded by John Moore in 1984 and headquartered in the central UK city of STAFFORDSHIRE, it now has more than 80 employees. With the efforts of product development and excellent product performance of ALCON engineers over the years, the brake systems and clutch products produced by it have been recognized and selected by the world's top teams for more than 20 years. In addition to the stadium, ALCON products have also been selected as OEM products by many of the world's top automotive manufacturers.

At 2016 SEMA SHOW, Alcon launched two new forged brake calipers, RC6 and RC4, for the civilian market. The two high-profile new products that have attracted attention have also officially unveiled in China recently.

The RC6's 6-piston design allows it to be used with larger brake discs ranging from 355mm to 400mm in diameter and 34mm to 36mm in disc thickness. The RC4's four-piston design has reduced the size of its adaptive brake discs, ranging from 332mm to 360mm, while the disc thickness is 28mm to 32mm. The huge brake shoe installation position means that sufficient braking force can be achieved in any environment.

Although the pistons vary in size and number, RC6 and RC4 still have a lot in common. Both brakes use a staggered arrangement of pistons to ensure a more linear foot feel and more uniform brake wear during braking. The steel piston guarantees its heat resistance under extreme conditions. In addition to professional oil seal design, the brake oil channel hidden inside the caliper guarantees a more stable braking effect.

       As a street-based brake caliper, RC6 and RC4 have all-round enhancements compared to previous products. The built-in dust seal seals off most of the dust in daily roads to the caliper. At the same time, in order to improve the user's comfort, both calipers have undergone extensive testing prior to release, and have achieved extreme levels of noise, vibration, and harshness control (NVH).

RC6 and RC4 use the same design elements, so the overall appearance does not have much difference. However, the RC6's 6-piston design allows it to be used with larger brake discs. The improvement in the size of the brake discs also allows them greater flexibility in adapting the models. According to the different pistons, RC6 has three different models, which can be used in large-scale SUVs such as Porsche Cayenne and Mercedes-Benz GLE. The caliper upgrade is no longer a patent for cars or sports cars.

       The first batch of RC6 arrives with competitive grey, flame red, and starry black. RC4 has competitive grey and accepts reservations for the remaining two colors.
