In order to ensure thermal stability, to prevent cracks in the disk and to reduce the sound of some brakes, all newly installed AP Racing brake disks need to run in with the brake pads. If the brake pads and the brake discs are not properly grounded, the brake discs may crack or the operation of the brake discs may fail to cause unnecessary troubles when the brakes are started several times.
AP Racing's recommended operating procedure is as follows:
Street car installation:
1. At a 20-kilometer brake, the speed is gently adjusted from 80-100 kilometers per hour to 50 kilometers per hour, five times per action. Do not try any high-speed brakes at this time - from high speed to stop 0 km/h, because only the disk of the brake disc will heat up with the brakes for a long time, but the interior of the disc and the bridge area will remain cool.
2. In the next 160-200 km, increase the braking pressure similar to stopping on the road, try to avoid a sharp drop from 120 km/h to 0 km/h. The bolt area of the mounting plate should now be light blue. This is a good sign that the correct hot dip has been achieved.
3. In the next 160-200 kilometers, slowly increase the braking force. Then you can brake hard. At this point, the brake disc should be a darker color than before, depending on the type of brake pad and the degree of braking force used during braking.
Please note: The specifications given above must be observed. The above specifications are more stringent than the specifications for replacing ordinary brake discs because the brake system is upgraded from ordinary to high-performance braking systems. Therefore, the system needs to reach a higher temperature than ordinary discs to ensure that the entire braking system will run smoothly.
